2.4. Test methods for oil analysis
FFA content, iodine value, peroxide value and saponification
number of the oil samples were determined according to the
AOCS methods (AOCS, 1995). Palm oil, sesame oil, soya bean
oil and sunflower oil were also tested for comparison.
The rice bran oil was analyzed on Zorbax ODS
(250mm×4.5mm) by high performance liquid chromatography
using mobile phase acetone-acetonitrile 63.6:36.4 with
flow rate 1ml/min (Moreau and Powell, 1999). The color of the
rice bran oil was determined by UV–vis spectrophotometry.
All the experiments were conducted in duplicate to examine
the repeatability and the mean value is presented.
