The results of the experiment are summarized in Fig. 3.
The cumulative surface runoff from the bare plot was 3.7
times higher than that from the weed- and residue-covered
plot, indicating that percolation in the weed- and residuecovered
soil was much higher than in the bare soil.
Moreover, the cumulative soil loss and total nitrogen and
phosphorus losses from the bare plot were 182.8, 159.0, and
72.6 times higher, respectively, than those from the weedand
residue-covered plot.
