the 80 mm long carrot piece was positioned vertically between
the two parallel stainless steel electrodes of the PEF chamber
(Fig. 1a) so that the carrot fibre direction was perpendicular to the
electrodes. The parallel positioning of the carrot piece was conducted
in the third setup (Fig. 1b) in order for the carrot fibre to be positioned
in parallel to the electrodes. Samples of the second and third setup composed
of 250 g phosphate buffer and one 80 mm long carrot piece (the
weight ranging between 70 and 100 g, depending on the roots diameter)
(Fig. 1) to then proceed with PEF treatment.
