Shannon’s (H0) index was calculated by the analyses of the genetic diversity of gerbera accessions and those belonging to the commercial group presented higher values than the accessions from the non-cultivated group, that is, 0.34 against 0.27, respectively.
Taken together, the data indicate the existence of greater genetic variation within the commercial group in comparison to the non-commercial one, although the number of commercial gerbera accessions employed in this study was higher than that of gerberas without commercial value, that is, 29–13,respectively.
