Tomme
Fermière
was
originally
made
by
farmers
for
their
own
consumption,
and
thus
was
pretty
much
of
a
staple
food
for
them.
Even
though
the
low-‐fat
Tomme
Fermière
was
considered
a
poor
man’s
cheese,
it
was
nevertheless
an
essential
source
of
protein.
Savoie
people
were
so
fond
of
it
that
Tomme
Fermière
and
coffee
together
used
to
make
a
favorite
afternoon
snack.
