Molecules pass through the column by
a combination of transport ...
- through the beads [go slow]
- through the interstitial volume [go fast]
(the volume between beads)
Larger-sized molecules do not penetrate all the beads
since its molecule size is larger than the pore size of
some of the beads.
Smaller-sized molecules penetrate all the beads in
the column since their size is smaller than the pore
size of the beads.
