Brandy is the result of the distillation of wine or any fruit juices, and can be produced in any wine-growing country. The appellation controller should be referred to as specified on the label in order to classify the Brandy into the various types i.e. Cognac, Armagnac. Cognac is a type of brandy, which must be produced only in Cognac, France, under tight control from the government. Normally, if that brandy is Cognac, it must state “Cognac” on the label.
