In comparison with
that of pristine CNFs, the FTIR spectrum of CNF-HMDC exhibits
new bands at 1692, 1617 and 1574 cm1, which are corresponding
to the stretching vibrations of C@O and NAH bonds in the amide
group. In addition, a broad band at 1000–1200 cm1 resultant from
the stretching vibration of the CAN bond of the amide group, and
strong bands at 2855 and 2933 cm1 due to the CAH stretching
vibrations of HMDC can also be observed. TGA analysis also indicates
that the organic groups have been successfully grafted onto
the CNFs as revealed by an obvious increase in weight loss for
CNF-HMDC (Fig. 1b).
