The puparia of M. domestica and C. megacephala were typically coarctate and cylindrical in shape. For M. domestica, the puparium [average 5.71 mm (±0.20 mm SD) in length and 2.39 mm (±0.12 mm
SD) in width, n=20] was almost evenly rounded at both ends (Figs. 1, 2), with very finely transverse striations. No strikingly obvious tuberculation along the extent of the puparial surface or in the caudal region was observed. The cephalic segment and anterior end of
prothorax were retracted, thus, apparently showing the
anterior spiracle as a single row of six papillae on the
lateral surfaces of the prothorax at the anterior tip of
the puparium
