The effect of solution pH on the equilibrium uptake of cadmium
ions was investigated at pH 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. The experiments
were performed by adding a known weight copra meal
to five 500 ml beakers containing 100 ml of 128 mg/dm3 cadmium
solution and the pH of the solution pH adjusted using
0.1 mol/dm3 HCl or NaOH. The flasks were shaken at 150 rpm
and 297K for 2 h and the amount of cadmium adsorbed determined.
