Its antibacterial compound was particularly active towards strains of
S. aureus and C. botulinum, but not towards Listeria spp. Most of the
investigated CNS strains were also inhibited by the culture supernatant
of S. sciuri I20-1. In contrast, the negative-control strain
(S. sciuri G160) was not able to inhibit any of the 50 indicator
strains. A 1/8 dilution of the supernatant of S. sciuri I20-1 also
prevented outgrowth of spores of C. botulinum in TSB medium
within the verified time frame of 120 h
