Due to the complex structure of biomass, pretreatment is considered necessary prior to enzymatic hydrolysis, since pretreatment processes can break down the lignin structure and disrupt the crystalline structure of cellulose of biomass [1–3]. Many pretreatment methods including physical, chemical, physcochemical have been used prior to pyrolysis too. The main goal of these pretreatment is to remove mineral matter or alter the bio-oil chemical composition and physical properties. Hassan et al. [4] presumed that the pretreatment could change the mechanism of biomass thermal decomposition and alter the bio-oil chemical composition and physical properties for specific applications through altering the structure and chemical composition of biomass.
