One limitation of the study is we did not measure the bulk
density of each bale, which may help explain why DM losses
in the smaller particle size bales were lower than that in the
switchgrass bales produced from full length of feedstock.
Future research can incorporate the value and cost of this
innovative storage method in the full LCB logistics system
when evaluating the feasibility of different systems. Also,
there is a need to assess other characteristics of feedstock
stored using the technology evaluated in this study, such as
sugar, ash, and lignin content. This information can help us
develop a more comprehensive assessment when evaluating
the logistics systems for feedstock.
