In order to protect my precious shoes, I carried them and walked bare foot in the rain where roads are filled with brownish muddy water that has reached my ankle height. I wouldn't want to tell you how it feels like dunking my feet into the slimy, slickish water.
If it wasn't the nice security guard who borrowed me the umbrella, my shoes won't be under good hand. Surely the shoes are expensive high end stuff? Of course it is. It costs 160 Baht and carried full load of memory of how we met at Chatucak market in Thailand.
I secretly hope that no one actually witnessed the moment when I carried my shoes in one hand and umbrella in another, still trying to cover my ears while thunder and lightning rolling in the sky and barefoot walking in the stormy rain.
