We went to the "Sticky Falls" on the recommendation of others with young children staying where we stayed. It was a good choice. We tried to take the trail around, but only made it to the springs before losing the trail. We ended up on a logging road that kept on going - so we turned around and went back to the falls the direct route. We had hoped to walk around and get to it from below. No such luck! We ended up getting in a lot of mud on the logging road - so best to stay away from it. Just go to the springs, then turn around and go back to the waterfall.
We went down the steps, most of the way down. There was a nice area that was good for the young children to play in. Mommy went right up the falls from there, Because of the limestone, it is not slippery. As others have said, just stay away from the green alga that is slippery. Grandma and the 2 year old stayed there and played in the water. The others went down to the bottom and climbed the waterfall to where we were. The upper falls were deemed more dangerous for the children. There are places where there is mud that will suck you in! Don't stay too long in those places or it will be hard to get out!
The restroom is fairly clean, but bring your own toilet paper, and be prepared to squat!
