2.3 Teacher Status
The teacher is often seen as the person responsible for reducing uncertainty in the classroom, especially in a group with strong UA. This is because the teacher is perceived as having all the information. There is a greater perceived distance between the roles of teacher and student. Teacher talk time in such situations may take up a high percentage of the lesson time. the teacher may be seen more as a fallible human being capable of making mistakes or not possessing unlimited knowledge. Trying to contradict either of these perceptions may create more uncertainty in the classroom.
