3.1.1. SEM analysis
SEM analysis was conducted to compare the surface morphology
of uncalcined and calcined chicken and ostrich waste-derived
catalysts using high magnification of 3000 with 30 lm and
6000 with 10 lm. The result is shown in Figs. 2 and 3. From
the SEM images, the chicken-eggshell showed similar particle morphology
with the ostrich-eggshell. Both of the uncalcined and calcined
catalysts comprises of particles from various sizes (1–30 lm)
and shapes although the irregular shape of the particles before calcinations
are more significant. However, the size of the eggshell
particles decreased and the particle shape become more regular
after calcinations process. The small particles were merged
together giving large agglomerates was observed after calcination
(for both chicken-eggshell and ostrich- eggshell). This is because
the sample is in the oxide form. The isolated particles were
reasonably isotropic
