Conclusions1. The soluble peroxidase levels were lower in medium MSI.
2. Soluble peroxidase activity was lower in embryogenic calli thanin non-embryogenic ones.
3. A remarkable decrease in soluble peroxidase activity wasobserved from the first to the second month in the embryo-genic calli. From the third month, the activity increased and thendeclined progressively.
4. The increase observed from the third month coincided with thegreater embryogenic frequency of the calli.
5. The peroxidase activity associated with the cell wall was verysimilar to the case of soluble peroxidase, but this activity wasgreater in embryonic calli than in the non-embryonic ones.
6. The P5 isoform appeared only in embryogenic callus. This bandwas detected before the appearance of embryos.
7. A peroxidase-l-ascorbate peroxidase was identified in band P5.
8. This isoform of peroxidase-l-ascorbate peroxidase can be used asa marker that allows the identification of embryological poten-tial.
