To date, there has been no attempt to apply large scale MFC technology for wastewater treatment prior irrigation. Furthermore, economic analyses of MFC application have not been sufficiently addressed in preceding research. Therefore, the goal of this work is to bridge the research gap and gain perspectives on the potential application of MFC technology for partial fruit wastewater treatment before irrigation. This paper begins with reported MFC wastewater treatment efficiencies. A case study is then conducted involving using fruit processing wastewater for irrigation in a semi-arid region in California. The economic feasibility of a projected MFC system is presented and discussed.
