Since the early waves of LONGSCAN were conducted, there have been new instruments created that can better identify symptoms of traumatic stress in young children. Although the LONGSCAN project did not include these measures, future studies should assess PTSS at earlier time points because there is clear evidence that high risk children are frequently exposed to traumatic events quite early in life. Providing additional time points will better inform trajectory modeling and will allow for the testing of curvilinear effects.
