1.Set the apparatus as figure 2.1.1
2.Draw a free body diagram of the system and show that ... when friction is negligible.
3.Find out the mass of the empty cart and report as m in Table 2-1.
4.Attach the pulley and the stopping block to the end of track as shown in Fig. 2.1. Place the cart on the track and attach the cart to the mass hanger using a thread. Guide the block before the mass hanger reaches the floor.
5.Pull the cart backward until the mass hanger reaches the pulley. Report the position of the stopping block and report the final position. Determine the distances the cart travels.
6.Make a test run to determine suitable hanging mass m that makes the cart reach the stopping block in approximately 2 seconds.
7.Measure the time of travel t at least 4 times and calculate the average time. Report all the data in Table 2-1.
8.Calculate the acceleration and report in Table 2-2.
9.Calculate the total mass multiplied by the acceleration ..., the total force mg acting on the system, and the percent difference between these two values. Report in Table 2-2.
10. Increase the mass of the cart and repeat steps 2-8.
