The theme and style known to the art community as “Land Art” or “Earth Art” started back in 1969 in N.Y.C. with the Dwan Gallery. This theme focuses on artist using natural elements and forming their own masterpieces. Two famous artists I would like to highlight are Andy Goldsworthy and the famous couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Both of these artists created beautiful pieces of art dating back from the late 1970’s up until today. Most of the pieces of art that these artists created are simple yet, unique in their own ways. Andy Goldsworthy focuses on using leaves or pebbles and forming beautiful shapes and snapping photos of them. Christo and Jeanne-Claude focus more on the use of “Land Art” by using natural materials such as islands and trees and wrapping them with massive sheets to create their own works of art.
