Being a K-pop idol doesn’t always mean that you’ll get endless praise, but as fans know, some people take criticism too far.
Recently, Big Bang’s T.O.P received a rather nasty comment on his personal Instagram. T.O.P decided to respond to the comment by taking a screen capture of the comment, with a caption of a smiley face. Ultimately, T.O.P removed the post, but that didn’t stop his fans from sending angry comments to the anti-fan.
Netizens in particular were in defense of T.O.P deciding to respond to the hateful comment.
“What’s so wrong with uploading a screencap of a comment that someone mindlessly left on his account? She shouldn’t have written that comment to begin with. TOP and other celebrities shouldn’t hold back anymore,” said Khw9 (via Netizenbuzz).
Eventually the commenter that left the negative statement on T.O.P’s Instagram uploaded a photo of the Big Bang group member and apologized. According to Koreaboo however, this did not stop fans of Big Bang (who was also included in the negative comment) from flooding the person’s Instagram with comments of their own.
T.O.P has made it clear previously that his personal Instagram is his space, and has responded to other fans on several occasions. More recently, he told fans not to argue in the comments on his Instagram.
Though Big Bang’s T.O.P is not the only K-pop star to respond to social media posts, it’s clear that he definitely is not interested in any bad or mean comments of any kind on his Instagram.
Big Bang is currently amid their 2015 “Made” comeback series. Their most recent singles “If You” and “Sober” were released on July 1. The group will release new music again in August, and then finally release the entire “Made” album in September.
