Hydrolysis was performed at 60 ◦C
under vigorous stirring for 20 and 40 min. The excess of sulfuric
acid was removed from the ensuing suspension by centrifugation
at 8,000rpm for 10 min. The ensuing suspension was submitted
to dialysis against distilled water for 48 h using a cellulose membrane
(Sigma–Aldrich) until the pH reached 6–7. The suspension
was then submitted to an ultrasonic treatment for 5 min to destroy
aggregates and stored in a refrigerator. The hydrolysis yield was calculated
as the ratio between the weight of freeze-dried hydrolyzed
particles and the initial weight of cassava bagasse
