Laan is a place for threshing the sheaves of rice. “koon laan” means “the piling of threshed rice” after the harvest and the threshing, Isan people have Their paddy rice piled up high in the threshing ground. Bun Koon Laan is the farmers merit-making activity held to thank the rice goddess for the abundant harvest for this year and the next. The auspicious timing has to be determined with the help of asenior monk or a lay preacher. It usually takes place on the full moon day of the second lunar month.
