When ANOVA was run for the data in Table I for ACOOH end groups, there was definitely a dif- ference between these two groups at 5% significance level. These results are the obvious indication of polymer degradations in extrusion process. Increase in the ACOOH end groups mainly shows degrada- tion due to thermal oxidation.
When the results of viscosity in Table I are examined by employing ANOVA, it can be seen that there is statistically a difference at 5% significance level between POY wastes and recycled granules. Viscosity of recycled granules is about 25% lower than that of POY wastes. Decrease in viscosity indi- cates that there are some polymer degradations in the extrusion step. Decrease in viscosity supports the results of ACOOH end group results.
