I don't know a for sure answer to that. My hunch is that it should still work....you are still being exposed to the difference in frequencies to both hemispheres of the brain when wearing headphones, so it would make sense to me that it could still work even if you were deaf in one or both ears. This is just my optimistic thoughts however, I have no scientific backing on this. Anyone else know?

May I suggest that if you could feel the vibrations of the two frequencies, and this is possible with a bit of hacking of a speaker to generate the missing audible side vibration, maybe you could be onto something as the beat frequency might still be able to be determined, and that is what you're after. Otherwise, you could listen to an actual 7.83 Hz Schumann Resonance track. My best guess I'm afraid.

the frequency is created by the difference of tones that is interpreted by each ear. if you are deaf in one year i recommend using isochronic tones as they do not require headphones

your don't actually hear it the sound is created by your brain trying to resolve the tone differential. so you seem to hear it. think of a pond with a wave coming from both sides if one wave is bigger than the other when they collide the remaining wave will be the height of the energy differential

headphones work on electromagnetic impulses your pineal gland is designed to pick up these impulses as it is high in magnetite. so even if you are completely deaf your brain can feel it. although if someone were deaf it would be more beneficial to use a pure tone of the desired frequency with a pulse generator as the binaural action is through the processing of sound in the two hemispheres. true tones are best for the hearing impaired or the use of piezoelectric headphones.

my nephew was born with a rare birth defect called optic nerve hypoplasia. He has agenesis of the corpus callosum, in which it seems to be completely absent. He is mostly deaf and blind, and i wonder if binaural beats will affect him in anyway...

Actually headphones are irrelevant, frequencies effect your entire body and ALL of your DNA. Best to turn it up and bathe your whole body. Head phones give your meditation a kind of rocket boost though.

i get the same thing. mine sounds like the sound of a casino wavering up in pitch (like alien invaders?) or down in pitch. It has already happened twice and sounds the same both times. Morse code reminds me of how the pitch alternates for me in steps. I meditate too and in yoga you can hear 'Anahata sounds' in your meditation. Look it up!

I would think low frequencies can be felt. Maybe a good sub-woofer putting out 7.83hz. Although I've read the earth's magnetic resonance may be changing since the magnetic poles are shifting so that frequency may not be correct anymore. why is it when I take the headphones off after listening to this for 5 minutes I hear things that sound like a higher pitched frequency?....sounds like alien invaders ....friggin weird! is what I'm hearing what is being thrown at us on a daily basis by all the cell towers and HAARP?....the hell am I hearing?? and if I plug my ears I still hear it and then I hear in the background something that sounds like morse code....THE FUCK????!?!?!?.....I'm super confused...anyone have any answers??

Well not really , for it to work both hemispheres need to be exposed, so being deaf wont really cut it :D. Nothing is receiving the vibe in the deaf ear and nothing is reproducing the required frequency in that hemisphere.

u will get the effect even without headphones . the use of headphones is just to listen to the sound and cancel the background noise so u can silent your thoughts which help in getting into that meditative state alot easier.
