analyzed twenty seven samples of baby food
products collected from different markets. One positive sample
with a content of 15.9 mg/kg for FB1, 9.2 mg/kg for FB2 and 5.8 mg/kg
for FB3 was found. examined 35 samples of
commercial baby foods. No sample exceeded the maximum limit
fixed by the European Union. A daily FB intake of 11.3 mg/kg of body
weight for FB1, FB2 and FB3 was calculated for child consumers (1e5
years old), based on an average consumption of 200 g of corn meal/
day from a study carried out in Argentina .
Average intake was 0.9 mg/kg of body weight.
Samples from the Federal District of Brazil were examined for
FB1 and FB2. From the 208 samples analyzed, 80.7% and 71.6%
revealed quantifiable levels of FB1 and FB2, respectively. Mean
amounts of total FBs (FB1þFB2) varied from 0.127 mg/kg for corn
flakes to 2.04 mg/kg for cornmeal. The calculated total daily intake
for the total and the consumers-only populations represented 9.0
and 159%, respectively, of the PMTDI of 2 mg/kg body weight per day
