Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer is responsible to conduct, manage the procurement activities of goods and services for the company.
Essential Functions
Act as an authorized agent of the company with responsibility for managing all supplier-related activities and authority to commit company resources through contracts and agreements.
Prepare purchase orders for goods and services and ensure that the specifications for required materials and services are properly documented.
Manage inventory levels, simulation, modeling forecasting data, and supplier performance.
Monitor customer inventory demand and material assets to optimize total supply chain planning.
Incorporate planning decisions from customers and suppliers to reduce material and product variability, and arrive at optimal solutions.
Develop requests for quotations and proposals, analyzes supplier responses, negotiates and awards contracts, and manages post award supplier activities.
Assist with physical inventory, reconciliation and auditing process
Competencies
Ability to analyze internal and external systems that create demand for products to validate requirements (e.g., customer inventory demand, supplier parts availability and material assets that are on hand or in transit) and to determine the proper course of action (e.g., release orders/maintain schedules against existing contracts to internal and external suppliers for procured items) to satisfy requirements.
Apply knowledge of suppler management and procurement process in development and execution of contracts/agreements for obtaining goods and services.
Knowledge of industry standards, supplier capabilities, product configuration, manufacturing processes, and governmental regulations relating to procurement
High energy and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
Strong customer service orientation and provide dedicated support of internal and external customer requirements
Must be a flexible, decisive, and proactive problem solver
Possess strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail and ability to work on multiple priorities at once
Good communication skill in verbal, written, telephone, e-mail and presentations
Ability to read/write/speak and understand English while performing required tasks, in emergencies or other situations to promote safety and/or cooperative work assignments.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's and 3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in the area of procurement and supply chain management.
Aerospace manufacturing procurement experience preferred.
Must have proficient skills with manufacturing ERP systems
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Computer literate
Certifications in C.P.M., CPIM and Six Sigma desired.
