Lufthansa Cargo is the logistics services provider in the Lufthansa Group. Based in Frankfurt, the company ranks among the world’s biggest cargo carriers. It offers customers time-definite transport services coupled with superior quality and security standards.
Lufthansa Cargo’s commercial activity is focused on the airport-to-airport air cargo business. Its product portfolio includes both standard and express cargo as well as highly specialised products. Among these specialised products, such as the transport of live animals, valuable cargo, mail and dangerous goods, there is steady growth in the movement of temperature-sensitive cargo in particular. Lufthansa Cargo has invested in special infrastructure at Frankfurt Airport, such as the Frankfurt Animal Lounge and Lufthansa Cargo Cool Center, in order to satisfy the requirements of these sensitive goods.
Lufthansa Cargo operates globally in the airport-to-airport business. It serves around 300 destinations, worldwide, with its own fleet of freighters as well as the belly capacities of Lufthansa’s and Austrian Airlines's passenger aircraft and road services. The bulk of the freight is trans-shipped through the Frankfurt air cargo hub.
Revenues in 2014 totalled around 2.4 billion euros. With a transport volume of around 1.7 million tonnes of cargo and mail as well as about 8.6 billion revenue tonne-kilometres, Lufthansa Cargo is in the forefront of companies engaged in the transport of air cargo. The company currently employs around 4,700 staff worldwide.
