Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana Linn., Guttiferae) is a
tropical fruit tree fairly widespread in Asian countries
especially in Thailand. The edible fruit of this plant is
considered to be one of the best tropical fruits known as
“Queen of fruits” due to its pleasant flavour [1]. The fruit rind
of G. mangostana, which is a waste from consumption, has
long been used in Thai traditional medicines for antidiarrhoea,
antidysentary, treatment of skin infection and wounds
