In Chile, Atriplex has been planted in areas with rainfall of 50 to 400
ram/yr. Most of the planting has been executed on the coast of the
Coquimbo region. Here, the precipitation varies between 150 mm in the
north (Tongoy, 30 ° 15' S) to 275 mm in the south (Pichidangui, 30* 10' S).
The number of days of rain ranges from 10 to 20 per yr. Temperatures
over 30 °C in summer or under 2 °C in winter almost never occur [1].
