Dear Parents,
Greetings!
We would like to update parents of the following points to ensure that parents are least inconvenienced and anxious about their children and school matters:
Traffic
On behalf of the management of SISB, I would sincerely like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to all parents, especially those parent of young children in the Nursery Kindergarten. We understand what anxiety parents go through daily as we have not only observed but also heard feedback from parents.
Please rest assured that the operations team along with the management is trying their level best to negotiate discuss and put into place measures that will alleviate some traffic issues. Unfortunately, some of the measures have been put in place by the traffic police and therefore it is taking us a little time to negotiate what is in the best interest of the community. Please bear with us a little while longer and we shall send out a circular on the measures the school will take to help alleviate the traffic issue.
I also do understand that parents are anxious to get to school on time so the children are not late and also to pick them up on time so that teachers do not need to call to check why the child is picked up late. I have spoken to the teachers to be patient and we understand that being stalled in traffic is the reason for many parents to not be able to pick the children up on time.
Our dismissal time is at 2 and 2.30 pm therefore, N2 students who have no ECA should be picked up by 2.30 (giving parents 30 minutes grace period) and K1 and K2 students who have no ECA should be picked up latest by 3.15 pm (giving almost 45 minutes grace period). AA club is only recommended for parents who pick their children up beyond 3.30 pm. ECAs are a good option for you not to battle the 2.30pm dismissal. We are trying our level best to stagger the dismissal of children to ease the afternoon traffic and crowd.
Dropping and Picking students
As a traffic “solution”, all cars are not deviated to the back to take a turn before being allowed through the front gate. Some parents therefore have opted to drop their children at the back gate.
If your NK child is walking in to the campus from the back gate with a sibling, kindly instruct the older sibling to escort their younger sibling to the NK door before going up to their classes. The NK students will be allowed through the back gate along with their siblings to walk into the NK building from behind and teachers will be in the building to receive them. (WE do not recommend sending Nursery 2 children alone through the back gate).
Parents who have a child in Nursery 2 and in Kindergarten and are DRIVING through, are allowed to pick both their children up from GATE 1. Kindly inform the respective homeroom teachers of your preference.
Parents with children in Nursery and Kindergarten, who have parked at the back, will also be able to pick their children up at Gate 3. Also, to avoid confusion, kindly ensure that the respective homeroom teachers are informed of your preference.
Latecomers
K1 and K2 Assembly at 7.30
classes begin at 8.00 am
N1 -N2classes begin at 8.00 am
Although we are more flexible with the Nursery children, kindly take note that Nursery 2 students coming to school after 8 am miss a crucial part of their lessons everyday. This time will not be made up and lessons will not be repeated therefore we urge that parents try to make it to school on time.
Nursery 1 students who come to school after 8.00 am also miss a very crucial part of the lesson and this disrupts the child’s adjustment to the routine and decreases his or her chances of developing good social skills. The children need time to settle in each day as they are very young and are still self-regulating.
Starting Monday, September 14th, parents of N1 students are requested to drop the children with the teachers at the gate. For parents who come in late, kindly report to the reception area to seek assistance.
Teachers will be contacting parents if the child is seen to be late continuously.
HFM
As expected, once the weather changes, we get hit by bouts of illnesses such as HFM, Common colds, cough, stomach virus etc.
K1 now has 1 confirmed case of HFM and we seek parents’ assistance in checking your children for any signs of rash, red spots or other signs that may need medical attention. We have found that the HFM cases have been diagnosed through rashes instead of spots or fever. This is more worrisome as many a times we do not consider rashes a serious issue. Please bear with us if we request that you take your child to see a specialist due to a rash that we are unsure of its origin.
Have a great weekend !! Keep healthy and safe!
