GE Datex-Ohmeda has chosen 100% O2 as the calibration gas mix for a couple reasons
• Induction is normally performed with high levels of O2 so it can be argued it is a typical use
• A less O2 rich mix of gas will yield output at less than the dial setting... choosing this as better than over-delivery of the drug as one would have with an air calibrated vaporizer running at above 21% O2 mix
will yield output at less than the dial setting...
