ymodocea nodosa is characterized by linear leaf blades measuring 10-30cm in length and 2-4mm in width. A slight tapering of the leaf blade towards the leaf tip is often observed. The leaf tips are rounded, and sometimes appear slightly emarginate.1 The leaf sheath is light purple in color and can be up to 14cm long. This species has a strong rhizome with only one strong branched root, known for its function in stabilizing sediments. Short stems rise from each node along the rhizome with 2-5 leaves present.
