2.4. Conditioning of stainless steel surfaces
The investigated material was an austenitic stainless steel
(AISI 304, 20mm×20mm×1.5 mm) purchased from Goodfellow
(Lille, France). Before their utilisation, surfaces were
cleaned by being soaked for 15 min in a detergent solution (RBS
35, Soci´et´e des Traitements Chimiques de Surface, Lambersart,
France), rinsed with water at 50 ◦C and washed with deionised
water (MilliQ, Millipore, France) at 20 ◦C.
Conditioned surfaces were obtained by immersion of stainless
steel samples in the relevant biosurfactant solution for 24 h
at 20 ◦C. Non-adsorbed compounds were then removed by rinses
with deionised water and air sterile dried.
