2.2.3. Vanadium carbide
Vanadium carbide coatings suffered rather high dissolution and
due to that, formed pores as can be seen in Fig. 6a. Secondary carbides
do form between the primary injected carbides that show
black in Fig 6b. The secondary carbides can be very favourable in
abrasion resistance of MMC coating increasing the resistance between
primary carbides. This could not, however, be tested in this
study. With high carbide content there are lot of secondary carbides
between the original ones. With smaller carbide content
there are only some reformed carbides between the original ones
as can be seen in Fig. 5.
