Phonetics is a scientific study of the sounds of speech including the physical production, transportation and perception of actual speech sounds (Davenport & Hannahs, 1998). The person doing this work is called a phonetics. There are two linguistic disciplines which investigate the sound, that is, phonetics and phonology. In a certain respect phonetics and phonology deal with many of the same thing; however, phonology examines the function of sounds within a language, while phonetics examines the actual speech sounds.
