The most important decision to be made in the design of the lab's operation is whether or not there will be ongoing supervision of the lab by either a teacher serving as a coordinator or a teacher's assistant (TA). If not, will individual teachers coming to the lab with their classes be responsible for computer upkeep, continuity of accessibility, keeping track of software, scheduling, integration of the technology into the curriculum and troubleshooting? Having one person responsible for the daily operation of the lab minimizes the problems of computer breakdowns, software glitches, loss of materials and software, and the frustration of individual teachers coming to the lab without adequate preparation to successfully operate it. The same person can also help set up lab schedules and assist in planning and giving training in using the software.
