4. Conclusions
Integration of a pressure field and an asymmetric electric field was used to enhance membrane gas dehydration, and the following conclusions can be drawn:
(1)
Applying an asymmetric electric field across a membrane in the direction of permeation enhanced water permeation and thus water/gas permselectivity.
(2)
The enhancement in water permeation increased with an increase in the voltage gradient applied across the membrane.
(3)
The asymmetric electric field provides an additional driving force for water permeation.
(4)
The activation energy for water permeation was decreased by the electric field.
