Hoping to keep the American flag flying at this year's Detroit motor show, Chevrolet has revealed ago-faster version of its latest C7 Corvette supercar.
The Z06 gets the same 6.2-litre V8 engine a in the regular model but with a supercharger and other engine mods to boost power from 455hp to 625hp.
No performance figure have been discussed, although it's thought that the 0-100kph time could fall by 0.3 sec from 4.0 sec for the standard car. New is an eight-speed automatic option, apart from the seven-peed manual.The Z06 gets distinctive bodywork to underscore its racy concept,while the Z07 performance pack offers Brembo ceramic brakes and Michelin Cup tyres.
The previou Z06,based on the C6 Corvette,had a 505hp 7.0-litre V8,while the ZR1 came with a 650 hp supercharged variant.Chevrolet hasn't mentioned whether there'll be a ZR1 for the C7, now that the new Z06 ha practically picked up where the old ZR1 was in performance and styling terms.
