1993) because its low protein and NDF content. M¨uller
(1978) puts in evidence that the studies realized with
bovines and others ruminants showing high digestibility
coefficient to the nutrients contained in this residue,
suggesting that when properly supplemented, they overcome
significantly tropical forages of high quality.
To a proper utilization of these residues, information
about its chemical composition and nutritive value
are necessary, considering also the quantity that may
be incorporated to the ration and the possible problems
related to its handling, transport and processing (Pereira
