Given that there are many nutrients of critical importance in the regulation of fetal brain development, and that the timing and dosage of these nutrients is of great consequence,the fact that this sample showed continuity in healthy/unhealthy diets across individual pregnancies is important. It is worth highlighting research showing the relation between maternal mental health/stress and poor prenatal nutrition,with stress contributing directly to unhealthy eating patterns. This research, combined with the findings of the current study, underscores the potential for interventions at the level of nutrition.
