2.5.3. Total phenolic content analysed by Folin–Ciocalteu
(TPC by F-C) methodology
Total phenolic compounds were determined according to
Rodríguez-Roque et al. (2013b), based on the method previously
described by Singleton, Orthofer, and Lamuela-Raventós
(1998). A calibration curve of gallic acid (R2 = 0.9990, concentration
in the range of 50 to 2000 mg/L) was used to quantify
the concentration of total phenolic compounds in each sample.
Results were expressed as mg of gallic acid equivalents/100 mL
of sample.
