For the open-loop part of the demonstration, different amplitude pulses were given to the motor drivers (amplitude is in counts and 400 counts corresponds to full speed). Closed-loop results for the initial condition rotation test are shown in Figure 8. During the demonstration, students were asked what aspects of the response were changing as the proportional gain Kp was changed. The connection between damping ratio and closed-loop pole locations was discussed.
