Last year’s flood had negative effects on personal and
national levels. The floods caused shortages of food and water
all over the country because most of the food manufacturing
factories were in the flooded areas. Because of this, it was
not possible to deliver the products, leading to empty shelves
in supermarkets. The effect of increased costs and shortages
was high levels of stress in many families. During the floods
many offices from both private and government sectors were
closed and that stopped all business transactions. Also,
the international medias’ coverage of the floods in Thailand
discouraged foreign tourists from visiting the country,
causing losses over a long period of time.
