You stood shakily, watching the tip of the blade on your skin. You were scared, goddamn it. You were freaking scared of your boyfriend. Because this wasn’t him, this was Loki. The Asgardian was living, breathing, and he had taken Tom’s place.
Then Tom winked at you.
All your fears disappeared immediately. You let out a breath and a smile of relief, realising what an amazing actor he was. He could literally inhabit a character, becoming him in a matter of seconds.
Tom let out a snarl. “What is there to be laughing about, mortal?” He pushed on your shoulders lightly. You followed the plan and sank to your knees, as if he had forced you down. “I rule you. Say it. I rule you.” You sucked in a shaking breath. “Say it!” Tom pointed the sceptre at you, the blade pointed down.
“You… you… rule me…” you stammered.
Tom relaxed, holding the sceptre upright again. “You see?” he said again, spreading his arms wide and addressing your entire class. “You see how easy it is?”
“I see,” came an unmistakable voice from the other side of the field, “that you’re being a stupid ass, Loki, as usual.”
Everyone turned around again and you swear that a couple of girls nearly fainted. Robert Downey Jr. was standing there, wearing his red and gold Iron Man armour, in character as Tony Stark. Fanned out behind him were the rest of the Avengers, minus the Hulk.
As well as Robert, Scarlett Johansson was in her skintight Black Widow suit and was holding what looked like two real guns, with two more strapped to her waist, Chris Hemsworth sported long blonde hair and Asgardian armour, wielding a large hammer as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye had his bow strapped to his back and a quiver of (also probably real) arrows slung across his shoulder, and Chris Evans stood tall in his patriotic red, white and blue suit as Captain America, the two stars on his chest and his shield shining. Scarlett and Chris Evans had even dyed their hair dark red and blonde, respectively, just like their characters. You decided to refer to Chris Evans as Cap, otherwise you'd just get confused between him and Chris Hemsworth.
Tom scowled as he eyed them, letting out a mocking laugh. "I should have known you would appear. The Avengers, Earth's 'mightiest heroes'. What are you really?" He gestured at each of them in turn. "A man with shards of metal creeping closer to his heart every day, who depends on his own technology to survive. A man who was frozen in ice and should have died long ago, who has no knowledge of this world. A man whose only ability is to fire arrows, and whose mind is easily taken over. A woman who once killed for sport, and denies the truth. And a man whom I once called my brother, the god of thunder, who swears to protect his earth, yet cannot stop me from ending the lives of whom I wish," Tom spat, his eyes narrowed. "Where is the final member of your circus troupe? The monster who makes play he's still a man?"
