There is a dearth of literature on usability testing of web
sites designed for people with LD, particularly where such
people are involved in the testing. One example is that by
Karreman, van der Geest and Buursink (2007), who tested
the usability of two versions of a web site – a ‘non-adapted’
easy-read site and a site that was adapted on the basis of
easy-to-read guidelines. Two groups of 20 participants were
involved. One group had intellectual disabilities but could
read, and the other group did not have disabilities. The
investigators tested whether the easy-to-read web site was
more accessible and usable for the participants with intellectual
disabilities.
