It seems as though Nike and adidas are constantly embroiled in a war to gain an advantage over the other. With the launch of Nike’s new SNKRS app, which comes on the heels of adidas’ own “Confirmed” sneaker reserving app, that suggestion won’t be laid to rest anytime soon. With this announcement, Nike looks to jockey for position by offering sneakerheads insider access to Nike’s most premium sneakers, like Air Force 1’s, Air Maxes, and Foamposites. The app will serve as a concierge, giving users never-before-seen personalization options, release date notifications, an exhaustive backstory of Nike’s most popular sneaker franchises, and the ability to purchase the shoe of your liking with the tap of a button. Nike SNKRS will launch later this spring for iOS, with an Android release slated soon after.
However, beginning February 12, at 8 a.m. EST, advance access will be available to a limited number of consumers in the U.S.
Here’s how to get early access to SNRKS:
1. Consumers in New York City February 12-15 can register for access to the Zoom City SNKRS Station at the corner of 348 Bowery and Great Jones to get SNKRS installed on an iOS device. Please visit www.nike.com/nyc for more information and details.
2. Follow @nikeNYC for questions and clues regarding sneaker culture and popular Nike franchises. Questions will point consumers to a specific New York City location where Nike ambassadors will hand out early access codes to Nike SNKRS.
3. Consumers not in the New York City area can visit www.nike.com/snkrs to sign up for early access to Nike SNKRS.
