5.8 Melting point apparatus consisting
of a heated block, temperature measuring
device such as a thermometer, and means
for controlling the rate of heating and
viewing the specimen at low magnification.
The instrument should have a range
of 100-3OOC or more, and an accuracy
of f 1 degree over the entire range (see
12.3).
